sand puppy

I saw another bee-ant on my hike.

'Bee-ant' is the name my son gave these creatures when he was little. The name stuck. Another name I've googled is 'sand puppy'.

This one I only took a picture of. A couple of weeks ago, I brought one home in my empty dog poop bag.

This is the one I brought home to be a pet for a day. They eat apples and tuberous veggies like carrots.

I thought that the bee-ant would not be able to climb out of the container I had it in. My husband joked that he would be the one to step on it if it got out.

Well it did get out overnight. I searched everywhere in the vicinity for it. My husband was right. He found it the next evening right where he would have stepped on it getting out of bed.

That hearty bug crawled more than ten yards away! It was quite exciting!

We let it go in our yard in a place where I found another one a few summers ago.

I like bee-ants. They are so weird looking! We love to watch them. We catch at least one every summer.

I guess I love bee-ants. I love God's creatures.
