One day on my run, I saw this little guy in the gutter. His coloring was so beautiful! I wanted to show my son. He didn't have any kind of bump that could be a rattle on his tail. So I put a sandwich bag in front of him as he was trying to flee from my barking dogs. He slid right in the bag. (I carry sandwich baggies on my hikes to pick up my dog's doo.) You can see how small he is next to a quarter. He is a cute little baby bull snake! Bull snakes are not poisonous and they eat rattlesnakes, so I like them. (Just in case he really WAS a poisonous snake, we didn't touch him or get near him.) We kept him for a couple days. He didn't eat the pinkies we brought from the pet store. So we let him go. It was fun to watch him while we had him. He moved his water dish around and buried the pinkies. The pinkies were gross, but we were hoping to see our little snake eat. Nature is awesome! |
