Last year, I almost stepped on a rattlesnake up here. Luckily I noticed the rattlesnake at the last second before I stepped on it. Miraculously, I hopped out of it's biting range before he could strike. Then he started to rattle at me so I guess I startled him as much as he startled me. I thanked heaven I was still alive. :-).
I haven't been up on the trail since then.
My husband, who hikes up here every morning, has never seen a rattlesnake in this area. He hikes when the temperature is cooler.
Today it was cooler, so the dogs and I hiked on the trail.
They loved it!!
I dropped the leashes.
I was wrong.
They took off running!
They loved the freedom and proving that they knew the way home. They found the little trail down to the street and ran across it. Then they waited for me. Oops. We need to work on our obedience!
They ran so far ahead, and ghey are so tiny, you can't really see them in this picture!
Those poor little dogs wouldn't last very long out here by themselves.
We had a fun adventure anyway!
