I love the line 'exempt from public haunt'.
It's when we remove ourselves from the public rat race around us that we can find peace in the simple beauties of a tree, a brook or a rock.
And ponder.

What did we do to deserve this? I dunno. Just don't move, look sad and maybe they'll remove these ridiculous costumes. "My Dad said that if we golf a lot, he will buy golf shoes for me." Grandma, "That's so nice! He has always had golf shoes. They have spikes on the bottom." "I know, my Dad showed me." Now today, he has his own golf shoes :-). This little guy was scratching at the basement window. A nice surprise. We watched him attempt to get out of the window well. And this is what his teeth looked like. Funny!! I neglected to rescue him yesterday. Today he is gone. Hopefully he dug himself out. :-). It’s the brutal and the beautiful. To see into the heart of pain and not look away. Be a healer. Be a friend. This reminds me of being a nurse and sharing in the suffering of the patients I took care of. Like she said, it is brutal yet beautiful. |
